On 12 April 2015, I received the following email from Hostal L’Antic Espai:

Dear Renate,
Thanks for choosing us for your stay in Barcelona.
As you are coming to our hotel next 01/05 (1st of May\), so after wishing you a nice trip, we would like to ask you at what time are you going to do the check in, because we don´t have reception 24 hours.
Please be aware that if you don’t inform us about your check-in time or don’t show on time, there may not be anyone available at the reception to welcome you. It is not responsibility of the hotel if you come and don´t find anyone in the reception. In this case, the reservation will be cancelled and no refund would be possible.
In case of any changes or flight delay, please let us know beforehand.
Also notice that late “Check-in”, from 22:00 onwards, will have an additional charge of 30,00 €.

For you to have a good idea of the bases of local gastronomy, we have searched and tasted many different restaurants and bars, selecting the ones we think were the more appropriate to represent Barcelona’s spirit.

Once you arrive, we can think of which ones suit you best.

Every morning we will be serving breakfast for those who have booked it the night before.

Continental Breakfast: Orange Juice, cereals, yoghurt, toast, pastries, milk, ham and cheese, fresh fruit, butter and marmalade… plus a hot drink.(Tea, Coffee or Hot Chocolate)

Simple Breakfast: Orange Juice, toasts, milk, butter, marmalade and a hot drink.(Tea, Coffee or Hot Chocolate)

We also have soft drinks, mineral water, red wine, sangria, white wine and the local sparkling white wine called Cava.

You can have any of these at any time just asking for it at the reception.

You can enjoy our pick-up service from the airport to the hotel. Just inform us of the number of your flight and you will find us waiting you..

What a warm welcome! Receiving this email before I left on my first trip to Barcelona brought great anticipation, indeed! And, even before arriving at L’Antic Espai, I was impressed by their attention to customer service.

And, my stay exceeded all of my expectations, both at the Hostal and in Barcelona in general!
