Stepping out onto the deck of our little bungalow at La Fortuna Atitlán, it was only a few paces to the floating dock, our only way to arrive or leave our hotel on Lago de Atitlán (Lake Atitlán). But, I wasn’t arriving or leaving (the furthest thought from my mind!): I was dreaming of blue water and a blue volcano and of catching the sunrise to the east.

And I found them all, those few paces away, at the edge of one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.
