There is a little museum in Paris. It resides not far from the Eiffel Tower in the 7th Arrondissement. It is my favorite in this city filled to overflowing with museums. The work of Auguste Rodin – and that of his muse and lover, Camille Claudel – is featured there. And, that is enough. More than enough.
“The Cathedral” is not as famous as “The Burghers of Calais” or “Le Penseur” (The Thinker) or “The Age of Bronze” or “Le Baiser” (The Kiss). But, in its profound simplicity it reaches a deep part of my soul.
Look! Carefully, now. Each hand belongs to a different person, does it not? Yes. Two right hands. Gently intertwined as if whispering a secret.
